Proton beam is accelerated by a linear accelerator of about 7m in length, and reacts with beryllium, a metallic element placed in the neutron generator, to generate neutrons.
Energy-adjusted neutron beam is irradiated to the target lesion.

The treatment apparatus in development will be situated in the Ibaraki Neutron Medical Research Center in Tokai-mura, Naka-gun, Ibaraki, under the jurisdiction of Ibaraki Prefecture. In this center, we will first test the performance of the apparatus in animals and then start the treatment of patients. In this project, are developing not only the neutron-generating treatment apparatus, but also other medical devices required for the treatment, as well as radiation measuring devices and software.
